The Zope Foundation has the goal to promote, maintain, and develop the Zope platform. It does this by supporting the Zope community. Our community includes the open source community of contributors to the Zope software, contributors to the documentation and web infrastructure, as well as the community of businesses and organizations that use Zope.

The Zope Foundation is the copyright holder of the Zope software and many extensions and associated software. The Zope Foundation also manages the zope.org website, and manages the infrastructure for open source collaboration.

The Zope Foundation board has announced that the 2010 annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday, 24 Feburary, 2010, at 17:00 UTC, on the irc://irc.freenode.net/#zope-foundation IRC channel. The announcement also spells out the process for nominating and electing a new board for the foundation: that board will be "seated" at the meeting.

2008-12-12 New bylaws are approved by the membership!

The members of the Foundation showed up in large numbers at the special meeting and voted for the approval of the new new pbylaws, which are now the new bylaws of the Foundation. Thanks everyone!

2008-05-21 Announcing Black Forest Sprint 2008, August 25-27

BLACKFOREST SPRINT 2008
August 25-27th

in Freiburg, Germany.

The sprint is focused on topics like enterprise-level Zope, high-availablity, scalability, Buildout, Grok technology in Zope 2 and other hot topics that are of interest for "big" Zope users.

2008-04-22 Five Zope Foundation projects accepted to the Google Summer of Code

Five student projects were accepted to the Google Summer of Code this year. An overview of the accepted projects cn be found here:

In addition, Georgy Berdyshev submitted a project to the Python Software Foundation (under the Jython sub-banner) to port Zope 3 components to Jython. This is being mentored by Frank Wierzbicki, a lead developer of Jython.

2008-03-18 Zope Foundation accepted in the summer of code

The Zope Foundation was accepted in the Google Summer of Code for the second year running. We hope that this program will again bring many students, and valuable new projects, into our community. Thank you mentor volunteers and Google for making this possible.

2007-11-12 New board officers elected

The new Zope Foundation board had its first meeting and elected its officers: Rob Page as treasurer, Eric Casteleijn as secretary, and Martijn Faassen as chairman.

2007-10-31 Zope Foundation annual meeting

The Zope Foundation held its annual meeting and a new board was elected consisting of Jens Vagelpohl, Tres Seaver, Eric Casteleijn, Martijn Faassen, Jodok Batlogg, Rob Page and Jim Fulton. The board thanks Aroldo Souza-Leite for his work as chairman of the previous board.

The Zope Foundation publishes the first set of minutes of its regular Board of Directors meetings.

2007-05-24 Lovely Systems joins the Foundation as strategic developer! Two new directors on the board

Lovely Systems has joined the Zope Foundation as a Strategic Developer. Lovely Systems will be represented on the board by Jodok Batlogg. Because we have a new Strategic Developer, we also get a second committer-member representative. Tres Seaver has joined the board as the committer-member representative.

2007-04-11 Four projects accepted in Summer of Code

Four projects have been accepted in the Google Summer of Code. Thank you Google! In addition, the Plone project also participates for the second year running and had eight projects accepted! Congratulations, Plone!
